Brecks is a bulb specialist. Any company that refers as iris rhizomes as bulbs, doesn't know squat about them. I agree. Get your irises from iris growers who know what they're about! I'll get my tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinths, squills, lycoris, ornithogallum, colchicum, and bluebells from Brecks, but nothing that isn't a bulb. Learned my lesson on this almost 40 years ago.

You guys got me worried now. I've bought some from a local nursery last year already in or near bloom. They were amazing. They were pricy though [about $30]. Figured i'd go cheap and get a lot more. My gut feeling is this will be a lesson learned.

You will adore So Van Gogh Hurray! I bought this one from Joe Pye Weed's in 2007 (along with a further 135 or so others, since Hilarious! ) and it's such a good doer.

I finally found some time to go through everyone's orders. I love all the beautiful irises from Mid America, Suttons, Iris Sisters and Keppel and hope our Australian importers are planning a trip to USA this year Crossing Fingers! .

If I was able to purchase from those nurseries, I would definitely get Courageous One and Absolutely Yes Lovey dubby

I don't grow arils, but if I ever change my mind Perry Dyer would be on my list

I would also grab Golden Illusion. The V pattern around the beard is interesting.

I've had such fun agonizing over what to whittle it down to this year.
There is something really optimistic about looking at pretty pictures in the winter and imagining the spring garden in two, three, five years after relocating this and that and creating new spaces Hilarious!

And then of course there are all the ones that I just had to have --cuz WOW-- and I have no actual vision yet where they need to be in the grand scheme of things, except that they need to be in my yard somewhere, as soon as possible, can't wait, need to have it! Rolling on the floor laughing
lotta work in the heat of not-spring, though, and that's not quite as much fun ...

Taking the advice from many here i'm ordering some Iris from Iris vendors. My situation is i have a stream running the back of my property. I tried planting next to the stream but during storms everything gets uprooted and much dirt is washed away. I just finished a low retaining wall about 75' long. It stays pretty wet so i want to plant Jap and Louisiana iris along with cardinal flowers and other water plants. I bought from Louisanairis.com last season and the rhizomes looked great but i'm not sure where to order Japanese iris. Cascadiairis looks like a good site but would like opinion of the experts here.

135 more? I'm getting the feeling most on here are addicted to Iris's. Worse i feel myself searching Mid America, Sutton and Keppel web sites studying the different species. Is it contagious? Any known cure?

Sorry, no cure. The only thing that stops it is getting too old to wield a trowel or small shovel. However the upside is that gardeners do live longer, and that means more springs in which to anticipate and glory in spectacular beauty and fragrance.

I am so looking forward to spring!

The good news, it's getting close, got my first snowdrop bloom today!!! Plus seeing a lot of daffodils and crocus breaking through the ground. I planted a ton of spring bulbs last year, really looking forward to spring.

@jpm995, please add your approximate location and agricultural zone to your profile so we can know where the snowdrops are now blooming. It's helps us all to know how long it may be before they are blooming where we are! A nickname that we can all know you by would be nice, too, even if it is not your real name.
