So went to Walmart to buy some spray for Mr. Fig and all the fancy new plants are arriving. Which means all the older stuff is shoved off to the corner and there are some beat up stuff in that bunch. Well 3 plants called my name and went back to the property with me, but this palm poor thing. Question do I cut off the damaged parts or wait. I repotted it into a big pot today and I do not want to make it mad, its had a rough time.

I put up a picture of reject one and two that came back to the hotel with the palm. You all have a fabulous day.

Nice finds, they all look great!

Confused I don't see any damaged parts on the Palm but repotting may have caused undue stress and you might want to wait another month or so before doing any pruning.

#2 is Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata)
#3 a variety of Corn Plant (Dracaena fragrans)

I'm in Florida and haven't been to Walmart in over a year! I should stop by my local WM garden center to see if they're getting new plant shipments in. Smiling

All three were 12.00 total. The palm looks like a kid walked by and tore off all the leafs ? I am not sure if you even call them that on some of the branches. I was thinking it was another fiddle leaf my other one is in recovery at the moment you can see its most recent photo on that post.

I can't see your photo clearly but those bare stems may be where the flowers and fruit were. Smiling

For instance, here are photos of Parlor Palm stems showing the tiny blooms and fruits. Once the flowers fall and berries fall, those stems would be bare.

Here are some close ups of the boo boo's the palm has, see why I think a rug rat ran by and tore off the leaves? I wish it was from flowering or other such natural reasons.

The torn leaves will recover.

Agree, these look like great deals!

Palm leaves are compound with a large petiole and many individual leaflets. The missing leaflets won't regrow, but entirely new leaves should grow. I don't think it would make much difference to the plant whether you leave the old leaves on, or cut them off. I would probably keep the ones with a few leaflets at the tip, for now.

Thank you everyone.

So I went back one more time. I could not get this other palm laying in a broken pot off my mind and he was still there. He is now home in a new pot. Meet Sad Stanley, Walmart rescue number 4.

He was unable to hold himself up when he got to the house so we had to help him. the shorter trunk is now able to stand and the tall one is not as wobbly. I am not sure how he will do, but fingers are crossed.

Your rescued Corn Plant (Dracaena fragrans) should be fine. Give it bright light, warmth and be careful not to over water, they are fairly drought tolerant and quite tolerant of neglect.
