Hello. I just moved to central Arkansas and don't have any local plant pals. I'm excited by my new obsession, especially my mounted ferns.

Welcome, Arkansas is now in the house!

You happened to post pics of my two favorite indoor fern. The first is some variety of Asplenium antiquum (one of those referred to as Bird's Nest fern) and a Platycerium (Staghorn fern). They are much more forgiving than a lot of ferns indoors. Good luck with the new obsession, say good bye to your old life!

Welcome! @DawnCM!

I'm not very local to your area but wanted to say hello. Those are healthy plants you have there. I recently started my adventure with plants late last summer. There is a LOT to explore here on this site, so browse and learn to your heart's content! The members here are great and very knowledgeable, so if you ever have questions, post away. Again, Welcome! and hope to see more of you in the future.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
My grow lights will be here in 2 days, can't wait. Also on the way; string of hearts, string of turtles and peperomia columnella.

Welcome, Dawn Hurray! you've got some very nice plants!

My favorite individual is my Ponytail palm. Real survivor and can only get impressive with years, so it seems special to me. Gives me zero trouble.
Plant it and they will come.

"What is your favorite plant?"

Well, I will give you two answers, one for a group of plants and the other for a specific houseplant, that I currently have growing in the house.

a.) I specialize in palms and cycads, so most species of these.

b.) The plant that I like most now, in the house, in terms of its appearance is a Ming Aralia (Polyscias fruticosa). They have a reputation for being finicky (ha, ha, about as challenging as those gardenias mentioned above), but I've never had an issue with it.

Welcome to the forums. My favorite plants are the ones that have green. LOL. My favorite plant is Baby 2 my Begonia, he has travelled across country with me. I could not take my 7 foot plant with me so took a cutting and he is my precious. That one and my spider, who I just split into three plants.

Anyways have fun with this wonderful group of kind souls.

Most northern warms are too warm and too DRY over the winter, they HATE stuffy, indoor air..., aim for cool, fresh, moist, gentle breezes in filtered sun. That's sounds like where I'd like to hang out too. Seriously, with these, it actually a good thing to leave some water in its saucer after watering. They really resent dry soil conditions, not to mention their affinity for acid soils.

I've never tried growing gardenias indoors, but I have heard they are finicky. Might try one next fall to see what it's like. All mine are sheltered under pines in the garden.

As for indoor plants, I can't think of a favorite. All the indoor plants go outside to play in the spring.

With regard to light, I have 5 led full spectrum strips that'll go on the same wire shelf as pictured.

That's not my set up, just happens to be the same shelving unit I'll be using.
