Well, it happened again today. My photo with same amount of likes is now main entry photo over older one:

I just gave Rob's photo a thumbs-up and it surpassed yours, so it seems to be working.

Well, Rob's photo has one more like now. Ofc it's working. That's not the issue. We're talking about photos with same amount of likes. In the past the older photo had the preference over the new upload with same amount of likes (unless admins pin specific photo). This is not happening right now.
Honestly it's not some big problem, but it's certainly a bug if Dave hasn't changed anything (and it's not because I haven't seen other things happen like this with other members).

It's always done that for as long as I can remember. I think when two or more photos have the same amount of likes, the newest one always goes first.

Actually it was other way around. :P Older one 1st.

Now I also see that other members have the same "problem" (bug). For example:

@Johannian And look at this. 3 photos with same amount of likes. My photo is uploaded the last. For some reason it's in the middle and not last (or 1st). Just random placement.

Maybe something happened after update. Now I see random photo placements (with same amount of likes) everywhere.

I don't really see this as a problem, or bug, or anything that needs fixing. Are we really concerned about the order of database photos with the same number of likes?

Is it a problem? Not really. Even I said that earlier. Does this need fixing? I don't know. However, this topic serves to report our observations, and it is up to Dave to conclude whether fixes are needed or not. I only know that the order of the pictures was clear in the past, and now it is random in some cases.

In the case of photos that have the same number of likes, which one should be chosen as the first one seen? I don't think it really matters.

Currently it's whichever one the backend (MySQL) database gives. That's probably ordered by when the photo was posted (date ascending or descending) but I'm not sure which direction is the default.

My code selects the photos, orders by thumbs, and displays the results. Nothing more complicated than that.

It really doesn't matter to me. As long as the pictures are able to be viewed, which they are.

The mass databox proposal tool doesn't seem to be working. I looked up "Dahlia," and no options pulled up:

There will be no options if it's a plant with a main generic entry. These entries cannot be edited by members.
