Alex, you prompted me to go check on my auctions. Whoever Niedzwiecki is the funniest bidder. I cant figure if they just like to bid, or want the plant. I dont get the inching the bid up by a dollar, another dollar, two dollars etc. I cant figure why they dont just put in the amount they will pay and leave it at that, its not like that is the amount the bid will go up to, its only going up to my highest bid. Kinda funny, makes it interesting tho.[/quote]

"Niedzwiecki" is the biggest pain in the neck on Mljomo's auctions. That $1.00 raise over and over is a pain in the neck. If you really want a plant, just put a higher bid on it. It doesn't mean you will end up paying that high price, it simply means you are really interested in obtaining that plant. Niedzwiecki usually won't pay for anything over $27.00. That usually is 'his/her cut off point. She has been working Mljomo's auctions for weeks so knows the price points, and loves to push up bidders prices $1.00 at a time. She especially likes to do this with new people joining James' auctions. She has not won one serious(popular) plant on his weekly auctions. She usually ends up with the plants no one else wants. She has a bid of $33.00 for Icicles right now. She knows darn well that Icicles' will sell somewhere in the $45.00 to $60.00 range. Also, she already owns a double fan of 'Emerald Dream' if you look at the 'closed auction' prices already sold on the LA. So why is she bidding again on it? What really matters is the last 10 minutes of the auction. It gets pretty wild. The prices this week on James auction are generally in the low range. This would be a good week to wait until the end of auction to place a bid. Also, if you think a plant will re-list next week, don't count on it. Many plants have been sold out ie "Hooked', 'Blue Breasted Bee Eater', 'Eyed Alligator', 'Royal Nobility, 'Stop & Stare', 'Barbara Mandrell', 'Cardinal's Cloak', 'Baja California', 'Wickedly Wild and Wonderful', etc. etc. Most of the plants he is selling right now were added at the beginning of February as new daylilies. So he is just about at the end. Another point, James has a fantastic Fall Sale where he clears his inventory completely. If you can plant in the Fall, this is a great time to pick up a plant. I picked up 2 plants last Fall for a great price, 'From the Sea', and "Tal of Gasgone. They both made it through this past Winter, and are doing very well. I really don't like to plant in the Fall. But took a chance last year. I heavily mulched them with leaves and pine boughs. Glad I did.
Good luck, Pam. Hang in there.
