Takes a while. What you are seeing is a bracht, not a flower. The plants in the Calathea alliance produce brachts, and the true flowers are contained in the spaces between the brachts. Many tropical plants bloom this way. Heliconias, gingers, calatheas also bloom this way

Yes, it is an inflorescence. As said, the actual blooms will come eventually.

Is it this one? If so, there are no bloom or inflorescence pics yet.
Fishbone Prayer Plant (Ctenanthe burle-marxii)

Ok Added a pic of the part in question. It appears to be same plant. My tag from purchase says Stromanthe Burle Marx. I have also seen it labeled Calathea. Scientific names boggle my mind!

Calathea, Stromanthe and a few others are swapped around a lot in cultivation.

And good luck trying to say "Ctenanthe." I'd like to buy a vowel, please!

Sometimes you don;t see the flowers if they are very tiny

Is this one of those that's nocturnal, or morning-only, or mid-day only? So many blooms are so shy.

All the branches are standing tall every morning. Its really cool because the leaves are purple underneath

Did you know the leaves are purple on the backsides so the light that comes through the leaf bounces back up, so maximum photosyntehsis?

No change still. It must "flower" microscopically. In the meantime I repotted. It was getting dangerously close to being unremovable from the pot. The new planter I wanted to use is too big of a step up. So I just put it in a medium sized pot and dropped that into the planter. I still need to work out a new pebble tray solution. I was really worried he would pout after the move. But never missed a beat!
