Box of succulent cuttings sitting in a cardboard box in the carport for a couple months. Noticed last night one of the crassulas seems to be sending up a bloom!

Always wrong about this stuff, but if it is blooming, how weird is that?

I guess almost all 'can' bloom. I've only had a jade bloom once. Thumbs up for you. Smiling
Plant it and they will come.

Yes, many Crassulas are in blooming period now..they love this season...cooler air with warming up temps not heat wave levels. It is their showtime!

Sometimes, I think it is also stress reaction, like what some Sempervivums do. Thankfully, many Crassulas are not monocarpic.

Has a bloom opened yet? Did you put this in a pot yet?

About 2 dozen tiny flower heads about to open, nothing yet.

Still haven't potted it, I think its current conditions, good or bad, are why it's blooming so I don't want to change anything.

Still in a cardboard box with other cuttings (including a 6" eschevaria I really need to deal with) about 7' from direct light, on the north side of my carport.

Don't recall ever seeing one bloom so I'm not going to change a thing.

After that this cutting will get a bath, massage, and manicure.

Already looking for a good pot.

I know plants can last decades but damn, pots have gotten just as expensive as everything else!

That said, I'm amazed, as a retailer, at price hikes over the past year in particular.
*off topic rant, sorry*

Not just pet supplies, where I'm buying cases of food for more than I used to sell them for, but groceries and plant supplies...pretty much everything I buy. Even houseplants, up about 20% depending.

It makes sense though. We have many international suppliers, and ocean freight has gone from $2,000 per container a couple years ago to $25,000+.
We're paying trans-Atlantic fees now for one company out of Germany.

Nurseries and Walmart are paying the same fees also.

The suppliers pass the extra cost on, as do retailers, so take it easy on your local plant shops if prices go up.
