Wanted to see what is happening underneath, I think it is 3 and a half months in there.
The position of the roots looked ok.
Repot and raised by 1 inch, but temporarily cover the 1/2 inch on top with pumice, will take out the pumice in 2 weeks time. Then raise again in 4 - 6 months.
Another one..
After releasing the media and pruning. I don't remember what I buried inside, maybe just lava rock or another cat. Possibly another cat inside.
Decided to display the roots of this plant. Will let the soil slowly washed out when waterings. The rain last night helped to clean some of the soil. I believe my itchy hands will use skewers to scratch out some of the soil everyday. Will do some pruning to get rid of all the lower stems at final stage to show the roots.
And this one will wait until next year before I will start to cut the plastics. They are all in 10 to 11 inch bonsai pots.
Another one, I circled and tied a long Knuthii on the rock, and buried them for more than a year. Then periodically raised the rock. It is good that the roots were evenly grown on 4 different location.

That looks cool! This is making me wonder about the roots of some of the Euphorbias that I have but they are not plants that I want to mess around with. If/when I do, I'll take pics if the roots are interesting.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)

Try to be more valuable than a bad example.
When I started this more than 2 years ago, more than 2 years ago, I thought I will be happy to see 2 - 3 inch caudex above the ground, but now I feel greedy and want to see 8 - 10 inch, I double deck some pots to make them ready for 8 inch. At the same time moving them to FSFR, don't have space to keep them in protected areas. Hope they don't rot in this rain season. And have to wait for another 2 years to see the result. Hope they worth the effort.
This one has been increased from 4inch to 8 inch height
Some upgraded pots. Only need to cut the top part layer by layer to show the roots, no more painful and stressful repotting.
These are some promising roots, hope I can display them as 5 to 6 inch caudex next year.
Oh, you should try those, very easy to propagate, 5 cm cutting is enough to start a new plant, but need a lot of patience, 2 to 5 years waiting for the root/caudex.
Started with a small plant and I have hundreds of them now, 20 big pots and 20 small pots, lots of cuttings given away.
It is good that they keep me busy and occupy the space, prevent me from buying new plants.
I focus in 2 projects now.
Euphorbia Francoisii for short term ( 3 months to 1 year), and the E. Knuthii for mid term 2 - 5 years.
The first time I saw this, so many small roots and the main roots are not growing much, I may have waited too long to raise this, or something to do with the media
After pruning, still a lot of small roots, but I have cut too much. It means that I have to check/raise another 10 pots.
