I might bet that the calla was not actually dead... Maybe just the tops... I hope u didn't toss it. They are about as tough as they come for easy plants. the tops may go to mush in an early freeze, or late one, or they may shrivel and become crunchy in when totally neglected in a drought, but they always come back.

I have tons of em that I've dug from other peoples yards - they wanted em gone- that were tossed to the side, forgotten about, whatever ....now I have em growing in some strange places, like in the bed of my ol' pick up .

Deb, I grow Calla lilies (large white) in my garden beds. They do like a lot of water and need slug bait. I used to grow them next to the corner of my house...the drain pipe was broken a little so released the water right where the plant was. The foliage was 5-6' tall and I could cut flowers with 4' stems. I fixed the drain pipe and it was never as big again. I'm currently growing it in the front yard (full sun), but it has only been in about 2 years, and is not nearly as big.

I'm currently working my way through spring transplants and divisions. When I'm working in that bed, I'll take a clump for you.
