This is where I put newest purchases... to rest for a few days until I have prepared their planting location. It keeps new plants clearly in view... so even I am hard pressed to forget they are waiting for me. The single chair is a nice, comfortable, relaxing place to sit in the evenings... it faces away from the setting sun and directly into the garden... and it's a good vantage point for appreciating the garden... or for nodding off for a few moments.
When my Dad decided I was old enough I became the person who mowed and edged, watered and weeded, sprayed and pruned our property. This is what is known as "yardwork."
Later on in life, in addition to designing and planting residential gardens, my crew and I would do the same jobs for customers. This is what is known as "making a living."
At this point in life I organize and evaluate, design and plant, water and fertilize the plants and beds surrounding my own small home in a senior living community. This is what is known as "gardening."
Every day the weather and my health permit I get to garden... and as silly as this may seem to some... the simple act of calling it gardening elevates most of it from "work to finish as soon as possible" all the way up to "an enjoyable way to spend time outside."
Semantics... who knew.

By the way, the 'Blue Angel' Hosta is the only plant in the photo that is planted in-ground. By the time it's leaves completely unfurl the rest of the plants will need to be moved... 'Blue Angel' should have a 4 - 4.5 foot spread this year.
