It's nice to have it back in the garden.

Sandsock said: Rose_Guy1127 Shyam, I will have to look back at your old posts. But, can you tell me if you get the typical cloudy wet San Fran weather and what do you use for potting soil? I seem to be having issues with my potted roses and if we have similar weather, I could get ideas.
Love the lights and the blooms!

You're kind, thanks!
San Francisco is notorious for microclimate, so I could only speak of the climate in my neighborhood. It is windy throughout the year. Foggy mornings with warm afternoons followed by chilly nights pretty much sums up the climate. We do get some annual spring showers. If we are lucky we get summer heatwave lasting for two weeks. As for the potting soil, I make my own mixture consisting of 420 soil, horse manure, compost, alfalfa meal and fish bone meal. My roses love horse manure and 420 soil. My potted roses, with an exception of tree roses, are not exactly potted. The bottom of the pot is slice open for the roots to grow well into the ground. The pots are merely for visual aesthetic.

This spring is much cooler and damper than usual, so my roses bloomed a month later than last year. So glad to see these colors in the garden this week. I'm looking forward to the big spring show in one month.

Rugosas are the first blooms this year.

They both load lots of buds. I love the combination of these two roses.

Serendipity opening. I'm always amazed at how beautiful she is every time I see her blooming.

Yup, Lady of Shalott & Rhapsody in Blue look really good together. All beautiful photos Aerith.
It's been cold here too with the exception of a couple of days. Blaze and Golden Showers have a couple of flowers. Everything else has lots of buds. Waiting patiently here for the show to begin. The irises are coming into full bloom - took a few pics today.

First time poster… climbers Pierre de Ronsard (Eden) and Zephirine Drouhin. And a mystery rose …can't remember buying it. Kind of looks like Chicago Peace. Any ids would be appreciated.

Rosemama: May be Chicago Peace, but I don't think so. Similar-ish colors, but maybe too much distinct pink on the edges for Chicago Peace. I've grown it for many years, and your pics just don't make me think of CP. CP has more gradually blended colors.

Would you know the name if you heard it again? It reminds me of Rainbow Sorbet, but it could also be Love & Peace, Granada, World Peace, Broadway, Desert Peace, Enchanted Peace, or dozens of others.

Thank You! Zuzu for your listing. This particular colour combination is one of my favourites! So now you've given me a good search target. Some of those mentioned are already in my yard ( I just got two more 'Granada' added, apart from my own 'Chicago Peace')

Hi: thanks. I have 3 Love and Peace and the colors tend towards more orange and yellow, rather than pink. The blooms on this mystery are quite large and fade to a pink and cream.

Thanks Zuzu. Granada looks really close. I've looked through my records and I think I moved with rose from my old house. It may have been a body bag rose because I don't have any record from my usual vendors. Would also explain why I'm drawing a blank/have no memory of the name. In any event, it is a gorgeous rose.

So I am trying a remedy for black spot. The leaves were getting wet, but by the end of the day the plants are always dried up. Anyway I'm trying the water soap baking soda remedy. Is this any good? To me it seemed like the less potential damaging remedy that there is.
