Ditto @Fleur569 on the intriguing quality of the banner. This species can be seen in the wild in localized places in Michigan. I've only seen them in the Great Lakes Garden (featuring native wildflowers) at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. FYI, the blooms mostly point upwards, even though many of the buds start out pointing downwards. The delicate hairy blooms are well named 'Prairie Smoke'. They're a sight to behold. Check out NGA's database page for them. Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum)
Thank you to all who commented on my banner or "liked" it! And thanks for the acorns, Fleur, Nora and Lilli! Also thank you to Elizabeth for providing additional information about Prairie Smoke. It is a neat little spring bloomer.
