Oh yes Ted. I am seeing good growth underlights. Not a whole lot of blooms yet but a few. After 2 years, I am still experimenting which is why I have multiple clones of a few plants. One in seedling bark mix and the other in plain sphagnum moss. I may have to grow these for a year or so to be able to determine what media might yield better growth and flowers.
I feel really pleased with my Phalaenopsis growing method and my method for Paphs. The jury is still out on Bulbophyllums and Phragmipediums.

Yes, some very unusual orchids there. I'm taken with the Melinda Marie 'Blue Moon' and Whoa! Never imagined a Phal with that electric blue color!

That is quite a diverse group of plants that you have there!
I don't know if I like the little spotted Paph. more or the I-Hsin Beauty?

The Berry Cutie has a blue cast from some light reflecting.
I had posted her previously so the pic was just a reminder of sorts.

This is how she looks normally, but this is about a month old, the one posted today is of her today. I apologize for the confusion.


My Brassavola nodosa C. alagoensis was pink when I left for vacation but now the blooms have faded to pure white.

And my little Encyclia tampensis and my Dendrobium amabile have lost their blooms completely

Unfortunately I have no pics of amabile and the pic in the plant database doesn't do her justice.

Where did you find your Ionmesa Popcorn Highland? ....and can you show us a picture of the entire plant? It looks similar to my Ionopsis utriculariodes...and the color on yours is really neat!

I purchased the highland at Driftwood Garden Center in Estero, FL, they wholesaled from www.KalapanaTropicals.com They are currently being sold at that site for $32.
But in researching to add to my plant list I came across the parentage ... (is that even a word?) Anyway, so even though its sold as incdm, it's currently accepted name is Ionmesa. So, Australis approved the name Ionmesa Popcorn Highland for the Plant Database. I included a pic of her roots which are similiar to a fattened up version of tolumnia roots.

I belong to The Platinum Coast Orchid Society and joining was a game changer for me. We share orchids. Vendors and lecturers come to our meetings. We have members who are encyclopedias of orchid knowledge. And every meeting includes show and tells and orchid raffles.
Orchids have always been magical for me, and now that I live in Florida I am always discovering new ones I had never heard of. There are many growers here. I live a block away from one where I got my tolumnias.
I love it and fortunately my husband is on board. So when I went away to beachcomb, he did his best to take care of all of them ( and the rest of my jungle lol)
I also found a pic in my phone that I had taken of my dendrobium amabile, but its fuzzy. It's an orchid that must be seen in person.

BTW, in my experience, 9 years in the Fort Myers area, Driftwood is very expensive.

But now in the society you'll learn about much cheaper sources.
