I have had this plant for about 2 years. The catkins are a pink beige but they are over with this year. Here is the emerging leaves.
seems to be just as contorted as the green one.

Thanks for the pics Julia. That really is a beautiful color! I've heard conflicting opinions about removing the suckers from these. Julia, on your green one it looks like you leave them. I used to, but finally starting cutting them out and it made my original plant grow much stronger. Clint, do you know what you Dad does with suckers?
I cut the suckers every spring, I just haven't been up there yet. If you don't cut the suckers off they take over, very aggressive. Later in the season I will try to get a picture, the leaves turn more of a green/red. I was surprised how big the green one is getting.
My plant wasn't grafted and the suckers look just like the parent, but I prefer to remove them anyway. Don't those suckers grow fast Julia? I'm always surprised at the number of them every spring.
