Glue traps are famous about killing non-target species. I've seen dead wrens, lizards and shrews in mouse and rat glue traps. I've seen a hummingbird in a small sticky trap for flies. Now there are recommendations for using sticky traps for spotted lantern flies. There is a danger to these glue traps as well however...

A red-bellied woodpecker is a large, strong bird. Think of what happens to smaller birds.

In short, there is nothing that would ever allow me to use sticky traps. Not only are they indiscriminate killers, starving and dehydration are horrible ways to die and as such, these traps are inhumane. We're facing some tough pests. But the answer can't be to make it harsh for a variety of species in multiple trophic levels.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

I absolutely agree! My father put one on our windowsill even though I protested against it & his cat got stuck in it. We got it out but not without ripping a lot of hair out. I don't see how they can continue selling these glue traps. They are extremely inhumane.

I "kind of" agree. I would never use one outdoors, but in the house could be a slightly different issue. As an example, we began experiencing an issue with mice, that had somehow made it into our home. My husband placed glue traps at bedtime in a couple of areas, such as the kitchen, and pantry. During the night, he would hear a bit of commotion, and check the traps. Sure enough, mice were caught. After trapping, and killing a total of five in one week, we called an exterminator, and paid to have the house completely sealed, and traps set for any future critters. The company came back to check the traps every three days, for a couple of weeks. It worked! We've had no more issues! Wasn't cheap, but was $$$'s well spent.

But I do completely agree that these should NOT be used for outdoor use!
