Does anybody have experience with this plant? The leaves on it look stunning and I really want to know where I can get it!
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. Philosophy is wondering if that means ketchup is a smoothie.

I have come across this one years ago. I think I even grew it for a short while.

These are terrestrial plants from Africa and several come from Madagascar.
I would suggest googling the genus and a few vendors will pop up!

Not to be too snooty, but not many people carry Oeceoclades.
They are not native
They come from bulbs
Are not very desirable or showy.
If very few people want to purchase them, who will bother stocking them?
My suggestion is to buy whatever you can find.

My suggestion would be to google "Jewel Orchids for sale"! You might just find some other gorgeous Orchids with sparkling, colorful leaves to strike your fancy.
Ludisia discolor, Macodes petola....
.Ludisia are easy to buy and easy to grow!

For the buyer to plant?
I suppose it is better to see mounted than buried in Sphagnum?

Or it could mean that the seller is not familiar with the species.

Just out of curiosity, I checked e-bay for the genus. There are several for sale.

Well, I knew it was small. Just not that small Hilarious!
Leaves are very patterned, and with time I will be able to see them with the naked eye Rolling on the floor laughing
I have a number of small/miniature orchids, like Platystele misera so this will just add to the collection. I did find a thimble small enough to plant it.

I know exactly how you feel.

I once bought a beautiful bifoliate Cattleya species about 35 years ago. Back then it was about $70. I was just crazy about them. I had not learned the intricacies of growing bifoliate species.
Anyway it slowly deteriorated and within 6 months it was totally dead. Door nails don't die as much as this did.
My autopsy showed that the darn thing really had nothing in the way of a root system. $70 bucks down the drain!
Hence my policy to repot every plant I purchase.

Adeniums Bookworm Cactus and Succulents Composter Master Gardener: Florida Orchids
@jooshewa I grow two Oeceoclades outside here in central Florida. O. calcarata and O. maculata. Calcarata is slow but consistent and maculata is pretty much a weed, popping up wherever there is fallen leaf cover.

O. calcarata growing with the succulents. Note the skinny leaves indicating a high light plant

O. maculata outside in shaded walk areas.

The leaves are reminiscent of Sansevieria leaves, just not as thick.

These seed pods are probably why this is so rampant. Every flower makes a seed pod.

If you have your heart set on gracillima try contacting Out of Africa directly. Although not listed for sale they likely have it as they specialize in African and Malagasy plants.

I did check the ETSY link posted and there is only one entry for O. monophylla. It's not mounted but, in fact, stuffed into sphagnum. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1...

Interesting. I sent a note to that seller asking why a terrestrial was mounted. Never got an answer, but like you said, in a pot with sphagnum
