This iris dates back at least 600 years and was/is grown on the grave sites in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Its lovely!! It looks like its dancing! Hurray! Seems very fitting for gravesites! The plants that I have been most enjoying for about a year now, are Sempervivums, (hen and chicks or houseleeks) which were planted around gravesites in Rome and Greece, as a remembrance. They are called Forever living, because even though the Hen dies after flowering, they usually leave babies to carry on! So this Iris would fit well with that theme! Thumbs up (not intending to sound too morbid!) I tip my hat to you.

Oh, I don't find that morbid at all. Actually, I think it's quite a wonderful sentiment. What a beautiful tribute to those who have passed!

True! I think of it that way also! I tip my hat to you. Anyway, thank you for the info and the photo!! It really is a lovely Iris, partly because of the history like you said! I tip my hat to you.
