Is it helpful to soak Blazing Star (Liatris Spicata) corms in water before planting? If so, for how many hours? I've grown them before, but from plants.

Anyone know if it's helpful to soak Liatris Spicata (Blazing Star) corms in water for a few hours before planting? Certainly helps accelerate germination for many seeds.

I've found that blazing stars are very slow to grow when planted as corms. I wouldn't soak the corms, corms are different than hard seeds and you run the risk of damaging the corm by soaking. Just plant the corms in good draining soil, water and wait. Be sure to mark the area you've planted them in. When I grew this plant from corms, I didn't get any blooms until the next year. When buying corms it's important to make sure the ones purchased aren't dried out. It's a delicate balance. Try to buy the corms when they are first offered in the spring.
