They bloom in the fall. Should I cut back this spring??

Montauk daisy aside, I cut back the perennials by later fall.

Re Montauk daisy: it really needs pruning in spring/early summer.
From past experience: without this attention, you get the fall blooms on the end of long, bare, leggy, meandering stalks.
The plant is far more attractive if pruned to be bushy and compact.

I thought I should but then wasn't really sure.

Bluepoppy, I cut mine back in late fall or early spring. Then again by 1/3 in early/mid June. These cuttings are super easy to root.

I do mine pretty much the same as Evan.
