When you are describing the parentage of a seedling, do you list the pod parent or the pollen parent first? I've always thought the pod parent is listed first (i.e., Fogbound X Starring means Fogbound is the pod parent), but somebody told me I was wrong. Am I? Thanks for your help.

You're right; pod ALWAYS listed first. As your parentages get more comples, same rule, pod listed first. Gordon Plough came up with the idea that the 'x' be capitilized X between the pod and pollen parent. All other 'x' are lower case. Check some pedigrees to see how it works. "(" ")" is another story.

Parentage of CABANA No. 13-16G4: 11-16T: When in Love sib X 11-107S: (05-18H: Core Values pod parent x Jazz Band) x 08-112Y2: (06-120B: (Jazz Band x Comfortable) x 06-110Z: (Fixation x Jazz Band))). Thanks to Keith Keppel note the use of 'sib' when apropos and 'Core Values' pod parent. For example you can check the registration of Core Values for details on "Core Values" pod parent.

thank you joe, and for the clarification of the capital X and lower case x. i thought that might be the case to describe its lineage, but was an assumption on my part. now i know, for sure.
