We usually have snowdrops and often species crocuses in the very sunniest locations in the garden by St Patrick's Day.
Not this year, but things do at least seem advanced over last year.

Spring perennial stalwarts which are green under the snow are appearing in a few places.
Below today: primulas and pulmonaria.

We now have snowdrops in areas of the garden from which the snow has melted.
Some have especially yellowish leaves and stems (picture below: today) though happily the flowers seem fine.

I haven't noticed this yellowing in the same clumps of snowdrops in previous years.

Trying to explain.
"Green under the snow" indicates that enough light and air is reaching the plant for chlorophyll to be present in the stems/leaves (viz. the green pigment of photosynthesis).
Perhaps in the case of these snowdrops, chlorophyll was originally present, but is now degraded after the wild fluctuations in temperature we've recently been experiencing (alternating warm, but then very cold).

On the other hand, the leaves of the Primula and Dianthus, which could be seen under the snow, are still green.

First snowdrops now greening up.

Most of the snow has melted back in the garden.

Cinda, we've had a late spring this year, but still evidently spring comes a good bit sooner to you!

Up to this week, the temperature has seesawed, but this week we are now getting consistently seasonal temperatures so spring bulbs are really beginning to flower.

We still have snowdrops blooming, but now have several other spring bulbs blooming in sunny locations.

Crocus tommasiniana 'Barr's Purple'.

Thumb of 2015-04-15/SunnyBorders/ad28ea

Iris reticularis.

Thumb of 2015-04-15/SunnyBorders/597be8

And surpassingly (because snowdrops are still blooming) Chionodoxa 'Giant Pink'.

Yesterday: Crocus chrysanthus 'Snow Bunting'.

Today more crocuses:

Always a decision, whether to plant blocks of different common crocuses by colour or to mix the colours.
Find over time it becomes impossible to keep the colours separate as they get disturbed through the soil being worked (me, voles and presumably others).
Personally like the yellow ochre Crocus flavus (smaller than the also common Crocus vernus cultivars).
Think the colour is warm and especially visible in spring.

Temperatures below seasonal.
Today wet, a bit of sun and a bit of hail.
Mostly overcast, so the crocuses have closed up.

One good thing about Chionodoxa is that a dark sky doesn't cause the flowers to close.
(Also the voles leave it alone as it's poisonous).
Today.

A very few of the primula are beginning to bloom, but only in the sunniest spots.
Today: primula x polyantha.

Cheating: it was planted yesterday.
Hellebore 'Anna's Favourite'.
Not a smart move as had to rebury a number of crocuses I disturbed.

Double bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex').

Below, always the first lungwort to bloom in our garden (due at least in part to its location).
Bought (on-line) as Pulmonaria longifolia subsp. cevennensis which, however, it certainly does not appear to be.
