Thanks, Arlene.

Quite hot so far, Cinda. Last few days have been very close to an official heat wave. Having to water the perennial beds.
Previous summer was quite wet. Great re watering but the weeds loved it.

Yesterday.

So colorful and so lush. We're in the midst of a heat wave way out here on Long Island so gardening after dinner is all I can handle.

Sorry about your gardening/weather conditions.

Find it's always a worry with the perennials. You especially hate to see the perennials hit with drought conditions when they've just started to bloom.
Finding the heat here (even with supplemental watering) is really hard on some individual phlox plants. I can't quite be sure, so far, whether it's susceptibility of the
particular cultivars or (more likely?) the locations (viz. sun) of the particular plants in our garden.

The phlox here are confusing me this year since they're all blooming so well. I hope they don't end up with mildew like the monarda did.

Good news about your phlox, Arlene.
I just try to keep an air flow around them by prompt deadheading and, if needed, by thinning out and also cutting out mildewed parts.

Arlene, life can be stressful by itself and then we add the challenge of perennial gardening to it!
