Thread OP
zone 7b Jersey Shore
I was able to get my neighbor to have a long row of spreading bamboo removed from the borderline of our property. I was advised by a realtor to file a complaint at city hall as its illegal to grow bamboo in our city. I decided not to go that route and spoke with the owner instead. He was willing to have it removed once I showed him that it had grown out of control and was spreading on to my property along with causing a lot of leaf litter as well. So, here we are a few weeks later, bamboo removed, but I have noticed sprouts rising from under ground. The landscaper who did the job advised me to keep on top of it as that will happen. I`ve been using Spectracide spray now and then but the sprouts continue to appear. Is there a better more effective spray to use to kill them off roots and all? I`ve been trying to dig them out (under gravel) but that is quite a chore. Any further suggestions is well appreciated. Thank you

Spectracide only kills the top of the weed and you want to kill the root system. Use glyphosate (Roundup), it will kill the entire plant. Roundup is no more toxic than Spectracide and it works.

@Lucy68 is correct but you have to do it regularly. Trim the sprouts and spray on a schedule. Bamboo is very tenacious and difficult to eradicate
