Only time will tell.....
Good morning everyone.
My name is Ron. I've been lurking in the background here at NGA for almost a year now, so I figured it was time to start participating with contributions to the database and interacting with like-minded folks. I'm kind of an introvert, so it's taken some time to convince myself to take the plunge and "get busy living!"
I'm hoping someone here will be able to assist with locating Hosta 'Wolcott'. This appears to be a seedling of sieboldiana (sp) which I think would do well here in zone 7b of Georgia. LOTG has a listing for it but not available for sale. The database only has one picture, posted by @ViolaAnn.

Any and all help with locating this hosta would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Ron

You could send LOTG an email and ask them about availability. The kids are taking it over, but I'm not sure if they're selling online yet. They did have a couple open houses this year. It wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask.

Hi Ron , it does look like LOTG is the only vendor that has it so I would try as Rose suggested. I would think you are getting it for it's name but if you like the look and can not find it look at Gone Fishing which also has a sieboldiana background

Thank you both for the reply. Yes, it's the name I'm after. Visited Wolcott, CT when stationed in NY and thought it was cool to find a town with my surname.
I will contact LOTG and see if they have it, it's a long shot. Crossing Fingers!

Take care,
Ron

Welcome to this site. Nice to see you starting to post. OK, folks, I have no idea what LOTG is and why it has a picture that I posted. Could someone please fill me in? Thanks.

Land Of The Giants hosta retail in Wisconsin (?) The owners both passed away last year, but the children are starting the business back up. Not sure why they would have one of your pictures if you didn't give them permission to use it.

Darned if I know. I can't find it and I don't have that hosta (nor had I even heard of it). I'd like Don to tell us more, please. Maybe when he talks about the "database" he's talking about the garden.org database.

I think I know what happened. Hosta 'Wolcott' I will go back to my older pictures, but it may be a plant that I saw at the Montreal Botanical Garden.

Here's more info about it - http://www.plantsgalore.com/ho...

and there are a couple of pictures that Carol Brashear contributed to the Hosta Library (as well as some we've seen elsewhere). http://www.hostalibrary.org/wx...

The My Hostas Database indicates that it is registered; so you could look at the registry data as well. https://myhostas.be/db/view/Wo...

Sorry for the late reply. Roof repairs and grandkids are keeping me quite busy!
Ann, thank you for the additional information, it is greatly appreciated. Yes, I was referring to the Garden.org database that only has one picture posted, from you. Sorry for the confusion D'Oh!
I'm still waiting to hear back from the nursery Land of the Giants (LOTG). It's a long shot but nothing lost either way.
