I accidentally broke my plumeria in half. Is there a way to save the trunk portion of the tree?

It's fine. Just stop watering now as it has no leaves. It will start pushing out new branches from the trunk in a couple to few weeks.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Oh thank you for the good news Jason! I was so afraid it was doomed. My friend gave it to me and when I took it out of my car, it hit the roof and broke in half. I still haven't told my friend because I felt so bad.

@bbossenmeyer Welcome!

I agree with Jason, on the good news, now you can have 2, you can root the upper half as well after 1 week when the end cut has calloused. Refrain watering until leaves start to push out.

Update, it's doing fantastic. However, the broken pieces didn't survive the transplant process. Here's 2 photos of the trunk part that survived and came back to life.
