I've been looking at some of the pictures recently but it is very difficult to notice the difference between the plants based on the pics of one single flower... The most important things are flower beauty and length of blooming, plant shape and presentation during and after flowering, easiness of growing, fragrance, leaves beauty and a million of other things that I know nothing about...And it should be able to grow in Toronto Smiling For whatever reason Bartzella (which is not TP, I know ) did not manage to catch my attention after so many years of growing it and once I saw TP which was looking just regal and smelling heavenly as well. Search for the Holy Grail, I guess. The owner did not know the name, as usual...

I personally grow only High Noon and none of the others that you listed, so I cannot compare performance among the varieties. I really like my High Noon! It is quick growing and blooms consistently every year. The form is a very beautiful semidouble that are presented nicely on the bush. I also like its height - being taller than most other varieties that I grow so it stands out in the bed.

I hope that High Noon grafts that got from Jasmin in August are going to make it. It may be the one that I was excited about. I also liked Yao Huang, which is not really yellow, but looks very enticing. Solaris website mentioned Age of Gold a few times...

Here's High Noon at its best in my garden.

The only thing that maybe a disadvantage to High Noon is that it can get quite big and may need a large space. There's a High Noon in my neighborhood that is huge measuring at 5ft tall by 9-10ft across. I don't know how old it is, but at the rate mine is growing, I estimate that it maybe at least 20 years old.

Thanks for reminding me about dimensions, Karen! I was thinking of putting them somewhere that I will probably regret later! Lovely pics!

That is very beautiful, Karen! I did not realize that it got so large. I will move mine this Fall. Mine was crushed by logs in the big flood I had, and is still very small.

THanks everyone for acorns and thumbs up! Mine is still a small tree compared to the large tree in my neighborhood. It was quite spectacular when I saw the large tree in bloom for the first time last year. Next spring, I will try to take a pic of it in bloom. I passed by it before but it was not in bloom so I could not identify it as High Noon.

I've had a tiny little High Noon for years and it's never increased at all. Still small and not blooming yet but looks healthier in AL…Yellow tree peonies have not done well at all for some reason. The only one that actually bloomed in CO was tiny little Alice Harding. Age of Gold seemed to grow okay but never even a bud, same with Golden Experience, never bloomed in CO, bloomed first spring in AL.

High Noon likes the sun, and High Noon tolerates the sun much better than some Japanese red and purple tree peonies that really benefit from some shade Smiling Not to forget the fragrance that fills the air when High Noon is in bloom Lovey dubby I only don't know if High Noon is fertile because I don't have any tree peonies that bloom at the same time as High Noon:confused:

Your High Noon is gorgeous, Jasmin! The foliage of your High Noon is much nicer and look better than mine.

High Noon should be at least 5 ft tall (as in HIGH Noon!) and mine only took a year or so to reach that. One other identifying 'feature' is that it blooms twice a year Hurray! Up here that doesn't happen every year but it always blooms in September.

Forgot to recommend a yellow - double not semi-double - Sunny Girl is just spectacular although it does need support, and of course Lemon Chiffon is a super cv.

Oops - missed the TP bit D'Oh! If it would only bloom a little more here I would recommend Spring Carnival - but the foliage is rather good too!

For the record, Cricket Hill sent the newsletter recommending their best yellow TP. Here is one paragraph from the said newsletter.

"While we have yet to encounter tree peony which could not be called beautiful, some simply take one's breath away. 'Golden Crown' or Oukan 黃冠 is one such stellar tree peony.
If, for some terrible reason, we at Cricket Hill Garden were forced to have to limited ourselves to growing a few favorite or "desert island" tree peonies from our collection (400+ named cultivars and counting plus hundreds more seedlings), the Japanese tree peony 'Golden Crown' would be a strong contender to be part of this select group."

It is a gorgeous TP. I wish I have more room for this beautiful plant Crying

Jasmin, I got one this past Fall from them. It is very small. Hopefully it will grow well and I'll have a bloom or two to share in a couple of years. Hurray!

LG, I cannot wait to see your pics Smiling I am sure the bloom will be gorgeous Smiling It might even have one of those "mother plant" blooms form the last year.
