BigBill said: If you tend to be a heavy waterer, use clay, it will dry out quicker.
If you keep things on the dry side, use plastic, it helps to hold moisture.

I like plastic for mine inside under lights because they come with numerous drainage holes to assist in good air movement at the roots.

Thanks, Bill. I'm probably going to use plastic. It seems happy in the plastic one right now, so I'll just move it to a bigger plastic pot.

Here is my plant that is blooming today. It it Phalaenopsis Mituo R-King 'Mituo'. If you like red flowers, then this is for you.

This is a hybrid of Phal. Mituo King 'April Blood' x Phal. LD's Bear King 'RK-1'. These flowers have incredible heavy or waxy substance and are likely to be very long lasting.
They are not really red but kind of a deep raspberry or magenta red color. That brightly colored lip offers a nice contrast. This is a very flat flower, and it measures 5.1 cm. wide.
Bear King has proven to be a wonderful parent in breeding Phalaenopsis of intense color and anything that comes out of the Mituo Nursery is often a worthwhile pickup!!

I am catching up on all the beauties that are posted here! So beautiful 😍!

Hard to believe last day of the month and @Ursula will start a new thread soon! No rain in the next few days forecast here, as if hurricane Ian left FL and carried all the rain with him. Good thing i did save a few buckets of rain water for my orchids, succulents and desert roses. My orchids respond better with my rainwater regimen.

Love red flowers, and that one is stunning. Such shiny petals, too!

I was too complacent, telling everyone we had weathered the storm just fine, and what happens? FPL sent out a tease - we had power all day yesterday and until almost noon today, and it went out again. I'm thinking all the crews have been sent south to assist with the real disaster areas. But our generator is growling away out there now, keeping the fridge cold and our computers running. Guess I can't complain.

The weather is just glorious, and we won't need the a/c tonight, it went down into the 60's last night. Yes, Gigi you're right about Ian taking all the rain and humidity away with it. That's exactly what happens. We get nice dry, cool air behind the late hurricanes like this.

I have two Neofinetia Lou Sneary 'Blue Bird' in bloom in the cage, and do they ever smell wonderful. Along with the little NOID Den they make a nice purple picture.

And just to add to the purple symphony here, V. Gordon Dillon x self is still putting on a show. It had more white between the purple dots when it first opened but is now just Whoa! Purple!

Thank You! Elaine, the weather is definitely nicer outside now! I am glad it did pull all the rain away so I took advantage of the drier conditions and fed my desert roses.

What a gorgeous display of purple blooms! Glad you were able to tuck them away and now you got the chance to enjoy them. It is as if they are thanking you from saving them from the vicious hurricane force winds. Whistling

This is really beautiful 😍 @Big Bill. Hope this stays on the front page awhile longer before massive upload so this makes it to the popular photo. I didn't see an October thread started yet:
