Thread OP
New Jersey
Hello,

I have had two Yucca trees for years. Actually they came with a house that I bought and we have been here almost 6 years. I don't know how long they were planted before we moved in. The actual tree part started to die off and fell over and I cut that and left the base on both of them a few years ago. I just noticed now the one is starting to flower again. There are a couple of stalks shooting out. My question is at what point in the year do I cut the stalk? Also does it matter how high up I cut it from the base? I live in New Jersey so fall is coming and winter is right around the corner.

I would leave them alone and enjoy the flowers.
At my house the deer often eat the bloom stalk before any of the flowers open...

There is no absolute need to ever cut the stalk... so... if you chose to cut the stalk... Maybe wait till it turns brown... then.... wear leather gloves and use something like a pruning saw or sawzall or something.

Even after the stalk turns brown, they can cause injury to unprotected skin.
