Ya'll, I don't want to sound like a pity-party, but please continue to pray for Gena. We go up today to an oral surgeon...she had a molar to break off at the gumline about a month ago and the root has to be extracted surgically. Thankfully she hasn't had any pain from this. Her hand, arm, and shoulder are still giving her pain. We've been to a rheumatologist, neurologist (for nerve tests) and an orthopedic surgeon. The rheumatologist thinks she has some undetectable type of RA, which is likely as her mother had it. The tests came back from the nerve test as "moderate carpal tunnel syndrome". The surgeon recommends surgery which is scheduled for April 24th. My confusion is *why* did her thumb start hurting even in the recovery room after her surgery with complaints from her about it even after she got to the room...and, even with no complaints of pain from her incisions and having a third of her lungs removed? The pain was coming through the high-powered meds they were giving her for the surgery pain. We told nurses, doctors, etc., but it was just passed over as not being important. Now I'm reading about something called "compartment syndrome" and this sounds exactly like what she experienced. It sounds like it is very much similar to CTS but is caused by a bad IV. I'm not sure if the surgery would be the same for both or different. It seems like we're constantly swimming against a strong current.
One more big prayer request. This past week my oldest sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes. We're waiting on PET scan results to know more about the cancer. Please keep her in your prayers, as well. Her name is Mary Lucy. Her husband, Charles, has been battling leukemia for several years now.
I know God is in control of all things and that He is with us through all things. But, sometimes the humanity in us makes it tough to keep going. That's when we have to give the burdens to Him.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Sorry to bring our troubles to ya'll, and me not being around anymore. This is the first spring I haven't broken ground to plant. My gardening buddy has some tomato seedlings he keeps trying to push on me. I might grab a couple and put in some of my old pots...I might eve get a sandwich or two from them!
