Hi all! Smiling Something unexpected happened. I had this little round cactus since 2019 .. it never really grew ( as I also never re pot it ) . However recently I moved in a new place brighter and all my plats are heppier . This little one I thought it was dying, but I eventually came back from holiday and ... I found it like in the photo ! I also noticed that thorns are different.. is it changing to a different plant ? 😅 I am very confused .. thanks for you contribute Smiling

It is reaching for the light. Possibly, the increase in light was enough to allow it to grow but not enough to keep a compact growth. It is reaching for the light. If you give it more light, it should start to grow more like it looked previously. Unfortunately, the stretched part is stuck like that.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

Hi [quote="hlutzow"]
thanks for answering! Why do you think the thorns are different ? It looks a totally different cactus ..the base never had long appointed thorns but just these you can see ..

Could be that the more light is affecting the look of the spines.
Could also be the plant is maturing. Some cactus looks , spines, change as they age.

[quote="elgecko"] oh wow I didn't know that even the spines could change. I even thought that somehow one of my other cactus got into that one .. not sure if I should leave it where it is or expose it even more to light to try let it go back to original shape ( which I think is kind of impossible though ;p )
