What does this indicate on the leaf. Haven't seen this before don't know what to look for. Someone please suggest if you have any idea.

Some pest has been feeding on leaf tissue. Could be caterpillars, etc. but you have to look at both sides of leaves, stems, branches, the soil, under rocks to find them. Some pests only visit at night so look during the day and at night. If they already left, take no action but consider putting a note on your calendar 2023 about a month before you first noticed this problem.
