Well for the first time in 3 years of my gardening journey, I grew squash from seeds instead of nursery transplants. Well at least winter squash. It was quite the site and to be honest I didn't think they where gona do well. Since this was such a success, what are tips and methods for making sure plants germinate and around what time to sow the seeds? (I live in New Jersey). I would love to be able to start growing from seeds, I could get a lot more resilient breeds for where I live and could finally get my hands on determinate tomatoes since I hate indeterminates with a burning passion. There's also such a better feeling seeing that your growing fruit from what used to be a tiny little seed. Thanks!
Mother-nature's only mistake was the creation of squash vine borers..... and aphids.

Tomatoes are very easy from seed. Plant Six weeks before you will plant outside. Can get leggy unless you have a grow light. Probably plenty of season for you to plant right outside too.
Plant it and they will come.
