I'm going to show yall some pictures of the plant then a picture where it's planted,can i get some advice on the health of this plant.It's also the only one without babies!!



The dates on these pictures are wrong.Does the ground look like it's lower than it should be,in this picture?It's at the top of the bed in the middle,only one around it with a white label.


Does it look like the ground has collapsed to anyone else around that Semp?? What to do?

jojoe, sorry can't make out anything except the dying little semp at the right of the colorful grouping. Was it sunburned cause it looks to me that the leaves are slowly drying to small size and disappearing? Bottom 2 pics are too muted for my aging eyes to make anything out like changing ground levels...

If the damaged plant is an offsets from the healthy rosettes next to it, I would remove it. I could have been damaged some how and slowly dying.

It was an offset and i removed it.I don't think any of my semps are sunburned,they are not in full,direct sun.I don't know how just the 1 could have gotten sun burned and not the the other offset.See the difference in the size there was 1 parent and 2 or 3 offsets,i planted this one last fall, i lost this offset recently.I thought maybe it was to wet.But it's only that plant.It kinda seems like that semp is in a small hole or the ground is lower.

What do i do to build it back up? Luckily there's only 1 plant there,so dig it up & add more soil then replant.

It actually looks like it experienced some kind of physical damage that started the dying process. Was it soft our crunchy?

I think Lynn is correct. I see a few semps from time to time where the growing part of the rosettes appears to actually be isolated from the root. The rosette gradually decreases in physical diameter, while the stem lengthens between the root and rosette. The plant appears to be feeding upon itself, as it grows taller but looses diameter. The older leaves dry up, being used for food to keep the rosette growing but unless you intervene, the rosette will eventually die.

The cure for this is to dig up the plant, remove all the dry leaves, then replant so that the rosette has contact with the ground. I seem to recall a very old thread here (or maybe it was Cubits) showing some pics of this. The rosette will recover, but take some time to get large again.

Your noticing that the soil eroded away from the root (or some other cause) suggests to me that the plant just was not getting either enough water or enough nutrients to the rosette from the root.

I noticed the leaves turned yellow, then the rosette got smaller until it died.The color of this semp makes it hard for me to realize it's turning yellow until it's pretty close to being yellow.The plant is got a yellow tint to the green part of the leaves (i don't know what color you would call it).
They seem healthy here ( dates are wrong on my pictures) & i've lost both smallest offsets

I really don't want to loose the ones left.They are adult plants & i am keeping an eye on them,hopefully they will be ok.I don't know why i lost the 2 smallest ones.Maybe i should have separated them when i planted them instead of leaving them close together like they were in the pot.I did loosen the soil & roots a little but i wanted to plant them close together so.

I think good idea if you are unsure of the conditions but initially you should when planting/replanting, like Twitch said, make sure the rosettes have good contact with the ground. I know that sometimes when you add a top dressing it makes the heads sit up higher and when you have a smaller head the top dressing could bring it up from the ground too much, so you got to find a balance to that.
