so funny, I forgot this was MY question! I was digging some clumps and deciding how hard to work potting them up.

If you have more to dig this spring, just throw them into grocery bags and bring to the swap... easy!

I don't have any info either way, but curious if this is about creeping Phlox, or the tall kind?

oh sorry, I meant the tall summer garden phlox.
I've never noticed bees around creeping moss phlox but maybe wasn't paying attention.

It's all good. Just clarifying. I'm not sure my phlox are too happy after that deep cold and being in pots. But they're popping up in places so I probably will have plenty.

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've seen bees in the creeping phlox (P. subulata?) either.

Honey bees do like crocus blooms, though!

i had creeping phlox for two years. Penstemon ( native) was planted nearby. Penstemon won the bee battle, and i don't recall any bees loving the phlox they way they loved penstemon. I suspect creeping phlox is purely ornamental, unlikely i will add it back to the butterfly garden.

I haven't witnessed any bees, let alone honeybees on the phlox. If there were, they went directly to the penstemon.

Glad I have penstemon (digitalis) as well
