Last autumn I bought a pack of mixed bulbs for a bargain in the supermarket. I had bought it because of the Oxalis deppei Iron Cross, I wanted, but included were also some Tulip bulbs which came without a name.
Anyone has an idea?

Hi Myriam. Sadly tulips do not grow well for me here in South Louisiana....but I did find this link that may prove useful to you

http://elegant-tulip-bulbs.com...

It is arranged by time of bloom so that may help cut down the search time.

There's so many tulips around Myriam, the best you can do is find one which is a good hybrid and widely sold. 'Red Impression' looks close and has an RHS Award of Garden Merit which usually means it's a good dooer so will be widely sold.

Other than Apeldoorn which has a large black throat edged in yellow and is a large flower, Red Impression seems to be the popular red tulip being sold.

The base is plum purple though!

Couleur Cardinal has a yellow centre except it has dark red to purple flaming.

Your second pic shows some other colour on the outside, Judith Leyster maybe ..

Nope, the base colour and anthers don't fit.

I've looked at several red tulips in Darwin Hybrids, it's a nightmare. Hilarious! Not all of them are in the KAVB database, use the search icon.

Those look very much like the ones I have blooming now, which are Darwin Hybrids, but I don't know for sure which one.

Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

I agree Hilarious!
Thank you Janet, but none of those really fit like you said!
I'd better put the pictures in the parent page and maybe one day I or someone else might stumble on its true name..

Perhaps the packaging would have info for the distributor..who might be able to tell you what plants they used. A long shot, but it has worked for me in the past.

It may be a long shot, but perhaps the grocery will carry more in the fall....and then you could get the info....it can be so frustrating trying to ID a plant with so many cultivars.... Confused
