This is probably a weird question.....I love Bee Balm and have it in my garden for my hummingbirds-but my husband hates it because it attracts bees (go figure!) I have had a lot of problems with it spreading in my garden-I don't think he would mind it quite so much if it stayed put. Does anyone have any suggestions for planting it so that it won't spread-like in a container set in the ground or something? The roots go crazy and I need to keep them corralled I want to keep the roots contained but still want plenty of drainage.
Any suggestions welcome!

Deb sorry for the rather late reply.
Yes beebalm can be grown in large containers I have done so . It also can be contained by planting in a container and bury the container . If you bury the container it should be checked the 3rd year because I have had it grow through the holes in the bottom of the pot and split the plastic pot.

The other solution is to plant it in an island bed that can be mowed around.

No less than a gallon but I usually use one of the 5 gallon tubs the shrubs or small trees come in , the more bee balm the better seen by the birds/bees.
