Hi
I am looking for acorns of Quercus muehlenbergii or Quercus prinoides, so that I may grow them. I have heard that these are the best tasting acorns and have low tannin content supposedly which has peaked my interest, they are also beautiful trees. I expect that many people may be surrounded with these species, and I think they might be fruiting now? I am not sure. Thanks

I've been reading about acorn edibility too.
What I've read about white oak is that while the tannin taste is less... it doesn't make them safe to eat without leaching.

I have some gorgeous white oak seedlings...

I have a bad habit of bringing home seedlings that I pull when gardening for other people, and replanting at my house...
Sometimes, I find someone interested in providing a home for one of these waifs.
