This may sound weird but I bet a family tree program would work. I know pictures can be added not sure if the numbering system could be adaptable.

That program is used by Bill Maryott on his website..he mentioned yrs ago when I asked him about it that his website designer had created it for him and that eventually he might sell a program like it..if you click on his description of a flower and the word pedigree comes up, click on that and you will see that same pedigree program
