I have brought in my Laterna flowering plant indoors in the hopes oof saving it from the winter. It was always in a pot, and I noticed that the stems have become woody for the most part. However, I noticed that there are some stems that are still green and soft, and that some leaves were beginning to grow own those. Is it possible to propagate this plant? I may have some rooting hormone. I also trimmed off the woody stems and growths that were brown. If anything I'd like to save it through the winter and possibly see it grow indoors until spring comes.

Yes , I have overwintered them indoors and grown lantana from cuttings. So it is possible.
I am just mainly try to keep them warm and alive over winter. Best not to water them too much and make sure they have a decent source of light. Even if it loses all its leaves and goes dormant as long as the roots are healthy and warm. I've had several grow back quickly once outside in spring.

This is one I overwintered inside , but when spring came I did not give it enough time to get use to bright sun light again and it's thin , weak overwintered leaves got scorched. But new leaves grow again quickly outside in the warm spring light and air.

Thanks! Can you tell me how to prepare the cuttings and how deep to plant them in the soil? I have not done this in a while.

first you need a good tip cutting. like in diagram below. cut it off a little below the third set of leaves and then cut off the third set of leaves too and pot it. leaving the top two set of leaves above the soil line and the 3 cut areas below the soil line.

might help to put a clear bag over it too and keep it in indirect sunlight.
it helps keep the moisture in so the leaves don't dry out while the plant is trying to grow new roots.

then it is pretty much waiting until you hopefully see some new growth/leaves .
which could take 4 to 6 weeks or more.

Thanks so much! I will do that and hope it survives indoors. Happy holidays!
