These days, there are many ways to make video content in Youtube..any topic under the sun. Some content creators accepts donations to help in their production needs..some are okay with just getting new subscribers or 'like' to help in the algorithm aspects.
For myself, I visit many, many videos. I love the freedom to explore new ideas, or share the fun the content creator does in their experiments or travels and likewise learn from any mistakes they may have encountered. If content deserves it, they get a 'like' from me..if their content truly impresses me, I may subscribe. Do I pay them extra to view them not really. After all Youtube already helps later on with revenue for them thru the ads plastered in between the videos.
But to really make it worth visiting, content creators must make their broadcast worth watching always and not just nonsensical blabber..I hate too much blabber when the creator veers away too much from the topic..my time is precious too.
I won't watch any "how to" videos where the uploader thinks it's necessary for them to be "in your face" at the beginning.
I have had a YouTube channel for over a decade.
It's all about my interests and hobbies.
I neither appear or speak in any of them.
I've several dozen videos, my most popular is the montage of photos of my Japanese tea-house build. That's had over 90,000 hits over ten years and keeps getting more.

Collectively, the videos on my channel have had a few hundred thousand hits and I've over 400 subscribers.
None of my videos, "are monitised." I'm not interested in trying to earn money from them and the volume of hits aren't sufficient anyway.
The interest in some of my uploads surprises me.
This I took from a CD I have. I bought it over 20 years ago. I remember as a child in the late forties/early fifties, it was my mother's favourite record. It was on the radio a lot. It reminds me of her.

It's had over 52,000 hits and has been heard in over 130 countries. There must be a lot of ex-pats out there. There's a lot of positive comments below this video.
