I regularly watch the TV programme, "This Farming Life" It's about the work of people who run small British farms. It's a hard life and one problem seems to follow another and it's hard to make ends meet. On one small farm this couple opened a farm shop to sell some of their produce and meat. It was a nightmare getting through all the regulations and getting a licence to open the shop.

One not long married couple had a small farm. He gave up his job as a fireman and together they bought a bigger farm. Some of their income comes from the sale of sheepdogs, which she breeds, trains and shows. She has had a lot of success at shows and is known and well respected within that fraternity.
But the work of building up the farm is obviously hard work.

They had no internet at their old farm, but it was available at the new one.
She's started making monthly sheepdog training videos, her husband does the filming. It all seems easy enough, as she explains what she's going to do with the dog and then does it. She speaks well and it all looks very professional.

Those interested can pay £10 a month to access these on the internet. She was hoping for about 100 subscribers. Within a very short time, she's attracted 550 subscribers from all over the world.
If they subscribe for a year, I make that £66,000.
Of course, some of that will be reduced by any production costs of the website. But good luck to them.
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like 'em myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings." (Philip Marlowe to Vivian Rutledge).

That is good for them.👍

These days, there are many ways to make video content in Youtube..any topic under the sun. Some content creators accepts donations to help in their production needs..some are okay with just getting new subscribers or 'like' to help in the algorithm aspects.

For myself, I visit many, many videos. I love the freedom to explore new ideas, or share the fun the content creator does in their experiments or travels and likewise learn from any mistakes they may have encountered. If content deserves it, they get a 'like' from me..if their content truly impresses me, I may subscribe. Do I pay them extra to view them not really. After all Youtube already helps later on with revenue for them thru the ads plastered in between the videos.

But to really make it worth visiting, content creators must make their broadcast worth watching always and not just nonsensical blabber..I hate too much blabber when the creator veers away too much from the topic..my time is precious too. Smiling

I won't watch any "how to" videos where the uploader thinks it's necessary for them to be "in your face" at the beginning.

I have had a YouTube channel for over a decade.

It's all about my interests and hobbies.

I neither appear or speak in any of them.

I've several dozen videos, my most popular is the montage of photos of my Japanese tea-house build. That's had over 90,000 hits over ten years and keeps getting more.

Collectively, the videos on my channel have had a few hundred thousand hits and I've over 400 subscribers.

None of my videos, "are monitised." I'm not interested in trying to earn money from them and the volume of hits aren't sufficient anyway.

The interest in some of my uploads surprises me.

This I took from a CD I have. I bought it over 20 years ago. I remember as a child in the late forties/early fifties, it was my mother's favourite record. It was on the radio a lot. It reminds me of her.

It's had over 52,000 hits and has been heard in over 130 countries. There must be a lot of ex-pats out there. There's a lot of positive comments below this video.

The internet is indeed powerful.
Due to being too busy I am unable to own a pet. Sure, I feed a stray cat but he keeps his distance. Best of both worlds.

However, many people online share their pet's lives with the world. So I live vicariously, and find myself caring for these online dogs whose antics and trips I watch when I need a dog.

It is actually 2 dogs, who are best friends, with different owners.
They are huskies. Both live in England. Called Sherpa and Keyush.

This is Sherpa's channel:

This is Key's channel:

And, for fun, I also check out these Japanese otters Kotaro and Hana:

Just because I never knew you could keep an otter as a pet. So it is also informational. They are also so cute.

The ability to post online whether content in Youtube or just via any other social media platform also helped so many people maintain their sanity during the strictest periods of lockdowns due to the pandemic. It actually opened more avenues for people to share their talents and interests. However, on the flipside of things, some share way too much online..forgetting it is still a public forum. Got to remind some thru online comments if allowed to maintain decorum and courtesy.

One of the things I loved was the wishbus channel from my old homeland, so I got to enjoy again old and new songs, see the artists form. Lovey dubby

I get sucked in by an endless series of video shorts on Facebook if I am not careful. I do like sewing hacks, tool hacks, how its made videos, funny cats..

Best innovation for me is they speed up the boring parts. Nobody needs to watch an onion being chopped in real time anymore.
Plant it and they will come.
