Happy holidays to all! Appreciate recommendations for LED grow lights that are good quality and value, to supplement light for house plants and to continue enjoying herbs in winter, including Moroccan Mint, Oregano, Basil, Lemon Balm, Lavender and Catnip. Will need to cover a 3 ft long shelf of pots. The herb shelf can be placed 2 feet from a NE-facing window for some indirect light, but not enough for good growth.

What length of LED strip to get, and how high up from the plants should the LED light be mounted? Which make and model (there are so many out there)?

My favorites are leds, they have a red, blue and full spectrum range, 4 wands and a dimmer switch and timer, and sit on a telescoping standI hear the pot growers are thrilled by them. I have pothos under the blue light spectrum and it is thriving. If yours are on shelves lots of folks just go to T5 shop lights. Both Amazon and Wayfair sell them...some are on clamps, but I prefer the telescoping stand. Have to switch to phone for picture.

As white as this one gets, but I can turn off each wand individually. Red loves the tomato sprouts. Look carefully at the color range offered and the controller, I forgot they have built in automatic timers
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

A close friend of mine swears by TotalGrowLight's products as state of the art, top of the line and much more affordable than other similar lights, though they are still not cheap.
I have chosen to retire from this forum due to issues I have with regards to how it is moderated and personal drama I have recently become aware of.

You're probably growing the herbs for their foliage and not the blooms, so any old LED shoplight that favors the blue end of the spectrum (5500-6500K range) should be great. I over-winter about 75 tropical bonsai under lights. I used to use 40W 5500K fluorescents, but switched to all 42w 6000K LEDs in the grow area and the garage after a lightning strike provided the opportunity(?) to replace everything connected to our home's wiring. I have 22 fixtures covering 64 sq ft. I saw an improvement in my plants and in my electric usage after the change.

These are available in a quantity of 1, too.

I use these:

I use 3 per shelf. I was harvesting hot peppers until December under these lights, would have gone on longer if I hadn't taken ill and bungled the watering.

You don't need all the colored light stuff, nor even "full spectrum". I get flowering AND fruiting AND vegetative growth with these lights just fine. And they weigh next to nothing.
