Brenda, I can tolerate some cheeses and a little butter, but not yogurt or ice cream, I do indulge in ice cream on occasion, and usually pay for it with bloat, gas, etc..

HI Yall! Smiling

Margaret, the last day at work I ate, or drank ice cream, as a soda float.
It agreed with my mind, not with my stomach.
It was probably too much sugar that day, I tell myself.
I hate to have problems with ice cream.

I saw an air fryer recipe you make like for "apple fries"!
They sound yummy to me!
If you try the recipe, I will send you my address for samples!

https://thestayathomechef.com/...

@AnnaZ, thanks for reminding me that I'm not alone with daily dilemmas!
I like Sun Tea. Glad you asked about ratio and shared your suggestion.
# of tea bags also depends on what size of tea bags, regular or super size!
That's another great idea for my hydration habits!

Abigail, I'm glad I'm not the only one with abundance of tea bags.
It's amazing they can pick all those small tea leaves to make all this tasty tea!

@needrain, Donald, you have the right attitude about New Year meal!
To cook food to your liking and to have leftovers is a win-win!

Tom, yummy cheesy potato broccoli soup is a win-win, too!

I'm trying to make a win-win with today's schedule.
Stayed home this am to make progress on 4 letter word list.
Probably didn't make enough progress.

My friend wants to go to 12th Night Celebration!
Time to get out the beads!

Since I am getting hungry, and will eat later,
I boiled 2 eggs for tuna salad.

The last egg broke in the carton,
so I will scramble it and serve on raisin toast.
Actually, maybe I'll make French Toast for lunch!
If yall can eat tamales for breakfast,
I can eat French toast for lunch.
Any of the food is ok with me, any time of day!

Then Mr. TT can have boiled eggs to make tuna salad
for his linner, when he eats in the afternoon.
He quit eating at supper time.

Then there will be leftover tuna salad for work!

I took the easy route to boiling eggs,
though that's the bonus to thinking ahead!

I hate to admit on Chow Time chat,
that I googled recipe to boil eggs!
The bonus is that is where I found apple fries recipe

The reason I googled boiling eggs is that I heard
some people say put eggs in cold water, then boil, and
other people say start water boiling, then add eggs.

So I compromised again, heating water, adding eggs to boil,
then removing from heat in a covered sauce pan.

The only problem is that I didn't think I needed egg timer.
So when I looked at Chow Time, reading all new messages,
the eggs sat in hot water longer than the suggested time.

Then I did put them in ice water.

They should be fine!

Here is a link to boiling eggs, Chow Time 101.
The interesting info here is the pictorial.
She posted inside view of egg, showing yolk,
cooked at various lengths of time.

https://thestayathomechef.com/...

Now I can make French Toast,
then get ready for 12th Night Party!

I made ribs and sauerkraut in the crock pot. I had mashed potatoes, gravy as well. I didn't think I'd have gravy, but I braised the extra ribs, and had a nice fond on the pan, so I made gravy. This is a meal from my childhood. They were great. The ribs were small, but meaty. 12 ribs in all. 4 were done in the crock pot, the rest braised for future meals. I cut the remaining 8 in half, and froze them. I will most likely grill them for a while when I want them, and have them with bar b q sauce.

Tom, tasty looking dinner, yum.😋

Dinner last night was prime rib steaks cooked in the air fryer. It took longer to cook than it does on the stove. Glare We found the thinner edges dried out, I kept checking them but they still ended up more on the medium side, so that was a first and last. DH said he would rather clean the stove and pan. Hilarious! We had a nice mixed salad with it, he had red.

I made a pot of chicken noodle soup today, started it yesterday, turned out very good, we will just have a bowl for dinner, and warm crusty baguette with butter.

Good evening all....

Margaret... That is a common food allergy; lots of people are allergic to casein. That makes it a bit tougher. I am just finding out that I am now allergic to sulfa based drugs and certain---not all foods that have sulfides in them. D'Oh! Shrug! I feel your pain. Food allergies makes shopping, meal planning and eating out tough. I have had to give up some things I enjoy or risk getting hive, a rash and itching half the day.

Tom...Dinner looks good. Nothing like revisiting a favorite meal from childhood. Nice touch with the gravy. Sounds like your organized for later grab-n-go meals. Thumbs up

TT...Hope you got that French toast. That is one of the few things I get an occasional craving for when it comes to breakfast.

Chili, salad and garlic toast here for dinner today. Hungry and just wanted to eat so didn't bother with pics. Sorry. *Blush*
Happy Night all,

I make it in the summer on a hot day. I use a large glass jar that holds at least a gallon, maybe more. I usually put two regular teabags, one peppermint and one herbal, usually some kind of fruit and I leave it in the sun for several hours, outside on my patio. But out tea bags in Canada are different from yours in the USA.

I know there's a difference between sulphates and sulphites. Not sure what it is exactly (too much chemistry for me). I had a severe allergic reaction after eating food once while attending a family reunion. I managed to consume a bit of everything in the way of food that are common food allergies - nuts, shellfish, etc. Because the reaction was among a lot of family members and not private as previous reactions had been, I was put under pressure to see an allergist. So that happened - ugh. I proved to be allergic to nearly every pollen applied to me, but not a single food allergy Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up . The caveat from the allergy Dr. was that I was likely allergic to sulfites. Found in wine, found in Irish potatoes, found in white bread etc., the Dr. list. They couldn't test for it - don't know why. But they explained that I likely had an upper level beyond which I would have a reaction. If I consumed food containing sulfites and it didn't clear out of my system before I consumed more and went above the tolerance level, there would likely be a reaction. Nothing to do but hope I don't exceed the level. I eat bread, I drink wine, potatoes come around regularly Shrug! . I simply eat what I want and hope it doesn't happen. The discovery about sulfites causing allergies was discovered with the advent of salad bars and for a long time those were sprayed with sulfites to keep them fresh. I believe that is not practiced anymore, but there was a surge in allergic reactions which was ultimately tied to salad bars and thus the discovery. In my case, reactions have always been spaced widely apart - many months to years. They aren't much fun, but it would be really hard to totally avoid eating foods containing some sulfites.

Not a fun food post, but food related. Someone will post something great soon after Smiling , but I'd never heard of it before the allergy doctor sat down in front of me and gave me the spiel.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! Dangers lurk everywhere. I'm going to blame my older brothers' asthma on methane from the cows Rolling on the floor laughing . He turned out to be a great cook in his middle age, but as a child he wasn't much help in the kitchen. It helped that he was the oldest and had developed more tricks to weasel out of being roped into helping than us younger siblings. But sheesh! And this one is supported by science!

Here, I'm very thankful for no food allergies or problems. Actually, my only problem with food is that I tend to eat too much of it... and not necessarily just all the good and healthy stuff.

Margaret, cooking prime ribs steaks in an air fryer would never have occurred to me. At least that's an experiment I can cross off the list.

I had a odd meal tonight. I started with the notion of some spanakopita, as I knew I had a few frozen. Then it was a matter of figuring out what else to put on the plate. I served the spanakopita on lettuce, topped with fresh tzatziki sauce, and the continued refrigerator review yielded a few anchovies, the last of the thinly sliced steak (tender enough to cut with a fork), and I added some sliced olives just 'cuz. A small toasted naan was the last to arrive. Odd, but tasty. I went with white. And now will be soon to bed.

Hilarious! I think that's the 'see more' diet! The chance of a rare occasional allergy attack does not prevent that! At least cheesecake can fill the 'dairy' on the old healthy pie charts for basic food that were prevalent in my school years.

Hi y'all Smiling

Donald and Sean,
I'm thankful I'm not allergic to food except I enjoy it too much

Cheesecake with fruit can fill in 2 slices on my pie chart.

About my worst allergy,
As a young adult, I had blemish on nose. At clinic doc said use common cream on it.
It didn't seem to get better and area got larger. I saw mom when she planned trip to Las Vegas she put cold compress on my face during Wayne Newton show. When I saw specialist who asked if he could take pics of it, he told me I was allergic to an ingredient in the common cream. Then I got Rx to fix skin on face.

Back to Chow Time.

Tiffany, I have not eaten at Beau buffet lately. After COVID
the lunch buffet is 20 bucks during the week.

The buffet we started going to now is the Palace. I'm not aware of weekend prices.
Weather should be great 👍.
40-60 I think.

Hope you enjoy your trip

My friend said she enjoyed the 12th night party. It was mostly standing. Beautiful night 🌉.

AG, Yes I was glad I made the French toast. Perfect with jam
Glad I made it since they didn't have much food at party.
I enjoyed you showing pictures from your view.
Here's a few from Mardi Gras party and lighthouse to welcome Tiffany and anyone else anytime you can visit.

Thank you for the pics & info, TT! We're going over to see one of my husband's brothers. We've been to Mardi Gras in Biloxi before, the main parade, but I've never gotten around to going to "the Beau".

I'm aware it will be $$^ but if it's good, that's fine. I don't mind paying for really good food, things I don't make @ home and can't be found @ our usual local restaurants. I've always had a weakness for restaurants. Not because I don't want to cook, but to taste something delicious and new-to-me.

Especially a sauce. Put a good sauce on just about anything & I'll love it. That's really the only thing that separates an outstanding restaurant from an average one. Shrimp are shrimp, chicken is chicken, beef is beef, all delicious with nothing added, but you can transform them into fancy restaurant status with the right flavors added and perfectly executed preparation.
