In the lore of the plants, sleeping near Datura and Brugmansia plants is associated with peculiar dreams. Some plants like Datura wrightii release a strong odor at night.

I once grew some Datura in a pot and put them in my room, filling the room with the odor of the plant at night and I would sleep. I don't remember the dreams I had, it was nearly 20 years ago, but I do recall having vivid dreams and wondering; did I have them because the scent of the flowers caused them or because I expected the scent to cause them?

I'll never know and I didn't make a habit of it, but I found that taking flowering Datura plants or cut flowers indoors made for a lovely scent.

Do other people here have experience with using scented flowers to try to encourage fragrant dreams? I think it is fun to try.
