Awe too bad, could be the cold weather also. My Windii has a second bloom, it dipped to low 40's while each bloom was emerging, which seemed to cause the flowers to withdraw a bit.

Lots of color on this noid, I am not sure if it was the freezing temps or the unusual early heat wave.

Nice one Alice and has two pups, not sure what that one is, but there is a huge clump of it at the beginning of a neighborhood where I walk.

This time of year the very sunny days and cooler nights will bring out some nice color in bromeliads.
This is Aechmea Jean Merkel, normally in summer more green, but deep colors this time of year.

Neoregelia Fireball I attached to some driftwood I found, the driftwood actually props up the Philodendron.

Just rousted this pot out of the hoop house area, and intending to re-pot and make it into a hanging basket. Aechmea 'Perez' has an inflorescence, yay! Also in there is 'Casa Blanca' and a good sized T. cyanea. I think they'll look nicer in a pot that's not that clashy red.

I have 2 matchsticks that look alike but one has these seeds that are hard and black. The flowers on the other one just fade and dry up. Do you think these seeds are viable?

Does anyone recognize this? It's an Aechmea I'm pretty certain. I used to have the name. I got it from Tropiflora over 20 years ago. It used to be a common landscaping brom as a cold hardy alternative to Ae blanchetiana. It fell out of favor because it rarely, if ever, blooms (all this according to Tropiflora). Well after over 20 years I have me very first bloom and now I can't remember the name

No idea but it is interesting. I have a NOID brom getting ready to bloom and was wondering if these folks might be able to ID it for me once the flowers are more prominent.

My NOID Brom is showing some pretty good color and when I peek inside the vase I see something is about to emerge.

I think this might be Neoregelia Sheba

Bingo! I believe you got it. Thank You! Could not find any pics of the flowers so I am guessing the little rosette in the center is it. The bright color seems to be the crowning glory.
