Several days of cool fall like weather 50's in the morning and only 70's in the day :
getting some unexpected pleasure out of an August garden
the cool weather makes for better weeding
the lawn is green, not typical for the dog days of summer
and hot tea is so much better at the cooler temps

Making plans for the real fall and some transplanting ....but not yet
predicted record heat coming next week and 90's staying all week

I don't have space to plant all the seeds I gather every year but a few volunteers always manage to survive
the single cleome this year is white and so is the balsam.

A couple new blooms this week both in pots waiting for a garden space.

in past years the broken colors were my favorite but the hot pink has outdone it's self this year

I have been out of the garden almost two weeks and It still carries on
one more cool morning then back to 90's
the landscape looks different , the tree trimmers have cleared the fence line under the wires. Looks like a little more sun for the veg garden and my corner shrubs (lilac and juneberry)
Also a huge new pile of shredded clippings for mulch


Picked a basket of peppers and tomatoes
my first two melons rotted , I think just overripe
Now comes the big fall shuffle
potted plants to the ground ,relocating some perennials and clean and prep in the raised beds.

No rain for two weeks now so watering every morning.

this late thoroughwort is very highly prized by many pollinators.
there is enough in the pasture project now I will be removing this (too big) one from the perennial border.

A drizzle all night produced .2 I am thankful for something but will still have to water today .
I have a full list of needed transplants but afraid to have to keep them well watered ...so I will wait a bit longer.

I also am weak so maybe it is a good thing that I live in an area where very few places sell plants at anytime. I'd be gobbling up so many bargain plants in fall knowing that most probably would croak on me cause I really do not have any sunny windows or grow lights where to place them. Those are two nice plants you got there, especially love the cape primrose.
