It looks like Emma's Silver Star. I have that one growing, too.

Mine came from Emma too - thought it looked more charcoal over gray than this pic shows, though - loved the spidery striations

Me too - am beginning to appreciate Joseph's system of classification - maybe we'll do patterns as well as colors? A moderator could move/and or copy posts around to fit - I wonder if Dave would consider two moderators for this forum: Joseph for MGs and Anne for everything else??? Whoever may be chosen in the future, I'll be happy with - just making suggestions

If any MGs don't fall into Dr. Yoneda's classification* or anything else, I wouldn't let that get in the way - the way things are presently would be fine, imho, for those

*Dr. Yoneda's classification by pattern: http://protist.i.hosei.ac.jp/A...

To all - forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn here - I haven't been posting here very much and only lately

I'm liking the later season version of Velvet Plum more than the earlier blooms. The margins are thicker and extend into the purple in places. Ignore my leg, please. Rolling my eyes. I don't have time to take another photo.

Lovely photos all. You can't even notice your leg, Alana, in the un-enlarged photo. It's a nice leg as legs go. Hahaha

I am enjoying this purple flower/yellow leaf JMG. It came out of a Ginro seed pack I collected in 2009.

Thanks, Ronnie...it seems that way in the photo but it is about 4 inches diameter, maybe a little more. I want to try to make a bonsai out of it, if it gives me seeds to play with that is.

Very nice, indeed. The cold weather KO'd the flower production on my MG plants. I hope it warms up at night soon.

I had the most delightful surprise this morning. Yesterday's blooms on the vines on my front porch never closed. I'd noticed late last night that they were still open, but was very surprised to see the same flowers still open this morning! But the color on this one changed from it's normal dark blue to this lovely purple.

Thumb of 2013-09-08/woofie/b74dd6

This is the color it was yesterday (not the same bloom, but one off the same plant):

Thumb of 2013-09-08/woofie/281a1c

I've never had blooms last more than a day before, so this was great fun for me! It must be because it was really overcast and rainy yesterday, but the plants are protected in this location, so the blooms didn't get crushed by the rain.

The last time I grew this variety (Yoi no Tsuki) was early in the season on my back porch. The blooms would open about 3:00 in the morning and by afternoon would have turned this lovely purple shade. I posted a photo showing the color change in the database:

I really like this one. The foliage is lush and variegated, too.
There's a little purple I. purpurea that popped up in the same pot, and it's blooms stayed open too, so it was just a weird fluke of the weather that these flowers didn't close up yesterday.
