Beautiful area.

It really is! Somewhere near Yellowstone National Park along the Snake River but I think it was actually the area called the Hoback River. It was definitely isolated, no one else in sight.

But we did see some animal tracks...

What does that mean?

Hi Kelli, I don't know for sure what Theodore Roethke meant but I think of it as a flower holds its life force through its roots. And all living things, including flowers have a spark of light in them.

Makes sense.

What ever it means that is a beautiful picture.

Thank you, Bob. I thought the picture went with the quote as the flowers are so bright against the dark background. Just made me think about the quote more... sunshine gives life and the flowers hold the light of the sun in their roots.
