Thankfully just heavy rain and some gusty winds here. I agree Debra, I just happened to look on NOAA's website and saw all of the tornado warnings.

I view the evening news via computer, which broadcasts continuous weather information in these situations. Seemed like no sooner did one of the meteorologists say there is new rotation that the tornado was already on the ground. Those poor people in Granbury. They just didn't have a chance.

I think I saw a story that said the missing were accounted for, but I could be wrong! Still six dead, last I heard, but many injured and homeless. How awful, no time to get to a safe shelter...you never know. Second major disaster in Texas and it's only May. Lot of people needing help on both of them! I was going to make another donation to the town of West this month, might have to split that up!

Linda, did you hear that the people of West are sending help to Granbury and Cleburne? For all its faults, Texas is a mighty fine place to be. Lovey dubby

I'm glad the missing were accounted for. Its terrible. The one in Cleburne was rated an EF 3, and I think the one in Granbury was rated an EF4 but those are still early reports. Sad

It just makes sense that some from West would want to help! It's amazing how many people survived by taking shelter in bathtubs and closets...even when part or all of the rest of the house was gone, most got out pretty much unharmed! I grew up with my father repeating his own tornado story of 1923, so all tornados I hear about make me really sad.

When I moved to Texas, my neighbor's good advice was to wear shoes when hiding out in the closet/tub. Terrible devastation.

She or he probably should have mentioned ID and cash/credit card, but yeah, shoes are a good idea!

Thumbs up
I remember one year hiding in the closet with my dogs and I had grabbed a pillow from the sofa. It turned out the cat had peed on it. YUCK! Bike helmet is a better idea.
