I'm assuming that this is an alpine of some sort as I, *ahem* picked a tiny stem from the rock gardens that our local council are constructing near the beach. I popped it into a pot and forgot about it. This was a month a go. It was dark purple then and tightly closed up. I noticed today that it had undergone a complete transformation. not only from purple to green but it's unfurling from what were closed up leaves. Does anyone know what it is? A type of sedum maybe?

Looks like some sort of sedum to me. It's seems to be similar to one of the deciduous sedums such as Xenox or Matrona.

Thanks Tabby I tip my hat to you. , the leaf shape does look very much like those. I'll have to wait and see how it looks when it gets a bit bigger.

It sure does look like a sedum. Will be fun watching it to see what the bloom and mature form of the plant will be.

At first when I read your post Twit I shook my head "nah!" but then I expanded the photo, and I could see where it looks like that...still think its some type of sedum also though. Kate, are the leaves fuzzy? In the expanded photo they look a bit fuzzy...it sure is a pretty little "stolen" plant Whistling
