Quite a few 2021 seedlings with scapes now.
This morning I found some scapes on a few plants that the seeds were planted in December 2021. I was hoping some of them would have bloomed last year, but none did.

On the first day of spring our morning temp was 23 degrees, not helpful at all for a scape hunter-- Sad But today I went out directly to Tribal Counsel which is usually first up for scapes and sure enough there was one scape. I checked the other couple of earlies, Miss Victoria and Black Eyed Stella, nothing yet.

While spraying for aphids today. Found 3 new scapes; Vatican City, Tiger Time; and Black Eyed Stella, which is usually one of my first to bloom. That late frost really did a number on my leaves. And no amaryllis blooms for me this year. I think when they die down, I will dig them up and keep them in pots from now on.

My amaryllis plants are sending up bloom stalks finally. My Apple Blossom really suffered most from the freeze. I'll be lucky to get a few bloom stalks; usually I get eight or nine.

I was out counting fans this morning and found a scape on Misty Mountains Cold, full sibling to Samwise the Brave.

This was a gift plant in one of my Sun Dragon Daylilies orders. Smiling

Oh my, counting fans is something I should have done the other day when it was pretty outside. Thanks for the reminder, Nan. It's pretty chilly and windy today, so I will be waiting for another pretty day.

Yeah, you have too many plants, Larry--and a lot of them are huge clumps.

I did not start counting fans until last year, and it's really nice to see how most of them have increased, some by quite a bit. Of course, some of the newer ones haven't increased yet, and a few decreased. One or two have one gigantic, healthy fan. I don't know what that means.

I get some of those too, ones that after even two full years are just one giant fan. I always have intentions of keeping up with them and seeing how they turn out later, and always lose track so I still don't know. Maybe you can follow the growth you yours and see the final results.

I certainly will. I know off the top of my head that one is Full Moon Rising. I have two plants of FMR; only one of them is a large, single fan. The other one has two or three fans. They were both purchased at the same time as DFs.

The other one with a single giant fan is Mountain Almond. I hope that one is OK because I loved the blooms last year.

While I finish counting fans, I will take note of any others.

Once again, I don't have any of those. You have so many more plants than I do--I'm not surprised you want to stop posting about first scapes. I'm still eagerly looking for them.
